One Year To Go! - Pre-Visit of the 5th Military World Winter Games

In exactly one year's time, Lucerne will host the 5th CISM Winter World Military Games and preparations are in full swing. To this end, high-ranking members of CISM were invited to a pre-visit to inspect the infrastructure for the event and review the planning process. The visit also served as an opportunity to exchange knowledge and pass on important tips and input to WINOC. The positive outcome at the end of the visit confirmed the confidence in the careful preparation of the Swiss CISM delegation for the upcoming major event.

Successful para cross-country training camp in Andermatt

The recent para-cross-country training camp in Andermatt proved to be a complete success and served as optimal preparation for the upcoming 2025 Military World Winter Games. Participants from Germany and France spent an intensive week improving their skills on skis. However, the training camp was not just a sporting event, but also an inspiring week full of stories, friendships and personal successes.

Barracks in Andermatt are wheelchair-accessible

The barracks in Andermatt have taken a significant step forward by being the first location to be adapted for wheelchair access in time for the Parasport training camp in mid-January. These adaptations also serve as a test run for the upcoming 2025 Military World Winter Games.

Net zero target at the 5th Military World Winter Games

As part of the sustainability initiative for the 5th Military World Winter Games 2025, the performance contract was signed today with Edaphos Engineering SA, an international company specializing in innovative and environmentally friendly solutions for the decontamination of soil, but also for the biological sequestration of CO2 in the soil. The performance contract provides for net-zero compensation for the CO2 emissions generated during the Military World Winter Games. In this context, at least 500 tons of CO2 equivalent (tCO2e) for the Military World Winter Games 2025 will be sequestered ahead of schedule from 2024.

Strong performance of the Swiss team at the first CISM Half Marathon World Championships

Adrian Lehmann showed a solid performance at yesterday's CISM Half Marathon World Championships in Lucerne, finishing the race as the fastest Swiss in 25th place. In the women's race, orienteer Paula Gross crossed the finish line as the leading Swiss runner and secured 33rd place with a new personal best time, just ahead of runner Seraina Ummel.

1st World Military Half Marathon Championships - Lucerne

The half marathon will be held as part of the annual SwissCityMarathon. This decision was taken due to the long-standing cooperation between the armed forces and the SwissCityMarathon and the professional organization of the event.

Signing Ceremony of the 5th CISM Military World Winter Games 2025 in the CISM HQ

The official signing ceremony for the 5th CISM Military World Winter Games in 2025 took place at the CISM Headquarters in Brussels on October 6, 2023. This significant event marked the official start of preparations for the highly anticipated games, scheduled to be held in Lucerne, Switzerland, from March 23 to 30, 2025.

We are inclusive

Promoting parasports is one of CISM's main objectives: CISM aims to strengthen and promote parasport events, and to provide better and more dignified sporting competition opportunities for soldiers with physical disabilities. This will also be a goal of the 5th CISM Military World Winter Games in 2025.
