Lucerne will be at the center of this major event as the host city. Engelberg-Titlis, with its challenging slopes and optimal snow conditions, will be the venue for the alpine disciplines, while the Nordic competitions and ski mountaineering will be held in Andermatt and at the Nordic Center Goms. The modern infrastructure of these venues offers ideal conditions for high-class competitions. The integration of sports such as cross-country skiing and climbing in Emmen and Wädenswil also opens up the opportunity for nations without a strong winter sports tradition to participate for the first time. This major sporting event is being organized with the active support of the Swiss Army, in particular the Territorial Division 2.

A special milestone of this edition is the first-time inclusion of military personnel from around the world who are disabled in action. Competing side by side with other athletes, they send a strong signal of inclusion, solidarity and the sporting spirit of the Military World Winter Games.

Strong performance by the Swiss delegation

Switzerland is entering a high-caliber delegation consisting of internationally successful athletes who are supported by the Swiss Armed Forces elite sports funding program. Among them are the European champion in lead climbing and Olympian Sascha Lehmann, as well as biathlete Amy Baserga and cross-country skier Nadja Kälin, who have both already proven their skills on the Olympic stage. Cross-country skiers Beda Klee and Anja Weber and biathletes Lena Häcki-Gross and Niklas Hartweg, who impressed with their performances at the CISM World Ski Championships 2023 in Sweden, will also be competing for Switzerland in March. In the alpine disciplines, the team includes ski racer Fadri Janutin and snowboarder Julie Hänggi-Zogg.

In addition to the sporting competition, the Winter Military World Games also focus on sustainable values. The organizing committee is committed to making the event climate-neutral and offsetting at least 500 tons of CO₂ equivalent from 2024. The promotion of environmentally friendly mobility, the reduction of waste through targeted recycling and composting programs, and the involvement of local businesses are further measures that contribute to the sustainability of this major event.

The Games promise not only top-class sport but also unforgettable experiences for visitors. The opening and closing ceremonies on March 24 and 29, 2025, at Messe Luzern offer a unique opportunity to experience the special atmosphere of this international event up close. The competitions themselves are also open to everyone and invite you to watch top sporting performances live – be it the alpine races in Engelberg, the Nordic disciplines in Andermatt and Goms or the thrilling climbing and running competitions in Wädenswil and Emmen.
