Goms

Goms

Directly connected by a railroad tunnel with Andermatt and Realp, lies the sunny Upper Valais valley Goms. It lies on the route of the famous Glacier Express, a panoramic train that connects Zermatt with Davos or St. Moritz. Thanks to its location at over 1300 meters above sea level, Goms is one of the most snow-sure and largest cross-country skiing areas in Switzerland. The Nordic Center Goms, venue for the Nordic disciplines as well as the Ski-Orienteering at the Military World Winter Games, is embedded in the unique Goms winter landscape. It is the heart of the cross-country skiing trail, which extends over the high valley with 100km of classic and 100km of skating trails. Goms is already an established education and training center for amateur and competitive sports as well as professional organizer of national and international competitions.

Best snow conditions, an impressive mountain view on both sides of the valley and a modern competition infrastructure enable cross-country skiing at the highest level.

Nordic Center Goms

With the recognition of the Hinnermatt area as a sports and recreation zone, the foundations were laid for the training and competition tracks according to the FIS regulations, and with the construction of the start-finish building, a basic infrastructure for the organization of competition events was built. It forms the perfect venue for the competitions of the fifth CISM Military World Winter Games.
The newly built center is also important for the overall development of the region and plays a central role in the development of junior sports.
