On the way to an environmentally responsible Military World Winter Games 2025

In view of the growing awareness of climate change, the DDPS and the Swiss Armed Forces have committed to making the Military World Winter Games 2025 CO2-neutral. Back in November 2023, a contract was signed with Edaphos Engineering SA for biologicalCO2 sequestration- an important step for the sustainable organization of the event.

Encouraging registration figures for the 5th CISM Military World Winter Games 2025 in Lucerne

Preparations for the 5th CISM Military World Winter Games, which will be held in Lucerne from March 23-30, 2025, are in full swing and the current registration figures promise to be an exciting international sporting event. With 46 nations registered so far and a total of 1,309 athletes and 134 para-athletes taking part, the Games are a significant milestone in the global military sports calendar.

MILITARY ATHLETES FROM 14 NATIONS COMPETE IN THUN

From June 11 to 13, the CISM Regional Tournament took place in Thun, with 120 athletes from 14 nations participating. Swiss shooters secured a total of nine podium finishes.

79TH CISM GENERAL ASSEMBLY & CONGRESS IN TANZANIA

The 79th General Assembly and Congress of the International Military Sports Confederation (CISM) took place in Tanzania this year with great success. The Swiss delegation achieved its goal of motivating more countries to participate in the 5th CISM Military World Winter Games. A special highlight of the event was the awarding of the Swiss sports soldier and shooter Nina Christen the title of Athlete of the Year. As Nina was unable to attend in person, Colonel Christian Hess accepted the trophy on her behalf.

One Year To Go! - Pre-Visit of the 5th Military World Winter Games

In exactly one year's time, Lucerne will host the 5th CISM Winter World Military Games and preparations are in full swing. To this end, high-ranking members of CISM were invited to a pre-visit to inspect the infrastructure for the event and review the planning process. The visit also served as an opportunity to exchange knowledge and pass on important tips and input to WINOC. The positive outcome at the end of the visit confirmed the confidence in the careful preparation of the Swiss CISM delegation for the upcoming major event.

Successful para cross-country training camp in Andermatt

The recent para-cross-country training camp in Andermatt proved to be a complete success and served as optimal preparation for the upcoming 2025 Military World Winter Games. Participants from Germany and France spent an intensive week improving their skills on skis. However, the training camp was not just a sporting event, but also an inspiring week full of stories, friendships and personal successes.

Barracks in Andermatt are wheelchair-accessible

The barracks in Andermatt have taken a significant step forward by being the first location to be adapted for wheelchair access in time for the Parasport training camp in mid-January. These adaptations also serve as a test run for the upcoming 2025 Military World Winter Games.
